Before I became a mother, I was the mother who swore my child would not wear light up shoes. I didn't like them and I thought they looked geeky so to say. My mom had bought Brayden a pair of Sketcher light up shoes a few months ago and I was iffy on letting him wear them but today I put them on him to wear to school and his face went to instant smile. He was in love with the fact that every time he walked and stomped his feet the lights would light up. He even woke up from his nap wanting to put his shoes back on. The joy that these shoes brought to him today has brought a smile to my face all day. It's the simple things in life that bring them such joy and the thought of me maybe not letting him wear them because I wasn't a fan breaks my heart!
this is great, kayla. before i became a mom i also had a lot of "i will never do that" moments (including wearing light up shoes). funny how having these amazing little ones in our lives changes everything. :)
ReplyDeleteI felt the same way. Oh, how things change when we see something that will make our kids happy!
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how big of a hypocrite you become once you are a mom. Every day I do something that I told myself I would not do before kids. It's so sweet to see them happy over the most simple things!
ReplyDeleteOh that happens to me all the time. Kayden loves his light up shoes and now Kenzie has them too. They both have character shirts that I actually let them wear in public too. Another one I swore I would never do. lol
