Breaking News!!
Brayden went pee pee on the potty! Of course not for me so I was unable to get any pictures, but he went for his teacher today in class. When I went and picked him up I heard the good news and was told that maybe I should go ahead and try to potty train him. Even though i've tried this before i'm going to attempt to try again now that they may be pushing him to do it in school too. Wish us luck! :)

So Long Nursery
Our little boy has now grown out of his nursery and is making his way into a big boy style room. It seems like yesterday we were bringing him home from the hospital and putting him into his crib for the first time. I remember with such excitement how much fun Ian and I had putting together his nursery. It's bittersweet that he will be leaving this room but we will be welcoming a new baby into that room and will now have a new set of memories to carry on.
Brayden sure does love his big boy room. It's decorated in a sports theme. Every time we open the door to let him in he says WOW! He hasn't slept in his new room yet. We're letting him get used to it and will probably have him sleep in it within the next few weeks.
Here's some pictures from when we were working on the nursery awaiting Brayden's arrival. The nursery will stay the same for Baby Barrette #2 with just minor changes to make it his own! Brayden's very excited to have new little brother sleep in his old room.
And now for Brayden's new room:

And He's Off...
Today was definitely a milestone day for me! Sending Brayden off to Pre-School had to be one of the most difficult things I've had to do as a mother. I was nervous all morning but excited to. I had such a mix of emotions all day. For the last few days we have been asking him if he wants to go to school and he always gets big eyed and shakes his head yes with excitement and as we pulled into the school parking lot this morning he was clapping and screeching with excitement. As I tried to get a good picture of him looking at the camera it was impossible to get him to stay still, which resulted in only getting one picture.
As we walked up to his classroom he was still excited. We walked in and he went to play and immediately stole a baby doll that another little girl was playing with. I unloaded all of his stuff, was introduced to his teacher Ms. Cathy and Ms. Shannon, signed him in, said goodbye and then left. As I was walking away I could see him up at the door looking out through the window crying. It broke my heart but I knew I couldn't go back in. Once I got to the car I cried myself.
I was missing him by the time I had to go pick him back up. As I walked into his classroom he was sitting at the table with another little boy and he yelled "Mommy Mommy!". He ran over to give me a big hug and then waved by to everyone else. His teacher said he did great and only cried for ten minutes after I left. As we were getting into the car he looked at his school and said bye school. When I asked him if he wanted to go back to school he got wide eyed and shook his head yes!

Just the two of us
Ian has been working all weekend and we sure do miss him. Other than waking up around 5:15 every morning (Brayden is wide awake and ready to go!) much of this weekend has been spent in the pool and Brayden has now learned to use his floaties to swim. It took him a while to realize that he needs to keep his head up so he doesn't swallow water but after a few times he got the hang of it. There was actually a nice breeze most of the weekend and we were able to play outside on the swing set too. Some fresh air was a great treat to get out of the house for a few hours and not melt away. Also with Brayden starting pre-school tomorrow it was a nice weekend to hang out with him, just the two of us!

Hi Moon
A new word means new fun! Brayden has just started saying moon and finding the moon in the sky. We were on our way into Target and he looked up into the sky and pointed to the moon and said MOON! I'm still amazed at how many words he is picking up daily. Yesterday he also said shovel. Last night we wanted to go outside with Daddy and show him the moon but it wasn't out before bedtime. This morning Brayden and I stepped outside to locate the moon. He found it before me. We looked at the moon for a few minutes and as I always tell him, I'll love you to the moon and back!

Visit with Gabby
Last week my friend Cassie and her daughter Gabby were visiting Florida for the week so we decided to get together and take the kids to the splash park. Gabby is only a few months younger than Brayden and they have a lot of fun playing together. The splash park was the perfect spot for the day to cool off and play. The kids enjoyed running through the water and afterwards we played at the park. The kids loved the slide and being a little wet with their bathing suits on they sure went quick down the slide! We look forward to them visiting again!

Superheroes
Superman, Two Spidermans, Ironman and two pretty little girls make for one fun exciting morning! The kids enjoyed dressing up and playing superheroes. They really can get into the energetic and mischievous roles quickly. But while being in there superhero costumes they still like to play with the trains and cars too. They enjoyed there superhero lunches and especially the yummy cake pops (so did the moms!!) My little spiderman was definitely exhausted when he came home. He put away his web and went straight for bed. Being a superhero is one tough job!

Fear No More
Four months into Summer and I'm happy to announce that Brayden has no more fear of the water! After many visits to Daytona Lagoon over the last few months, this weekend we didn't have to deal with it taking him an hour to two to want to go play in the water. As soon as we arrived, put down our stuff he was climbing the ropes, running across the bridge and quickly wanting to go down the slides. We even brought his own float with us so he was able to float down the lazy river by himself. He definately kept us more busy, he didn't want to stop going down the slides. I'm so proud of him and watching him overcome his water fear! Hopefully next summer it won't take us as long!

Beating the Heat
Darla and I had enough of the heat from the park the other day that we decided to skip the finger painting playdate at the park and head to her house for some indoor fun! The boys had fun playing inside with there superhero costumes, trains and watching Scooby Doo. Here's a cute picture of the boys eating there lunches watching Scooby Doo, with Batman and Robin in the episode!

Davenport Park
What were we thinking??! Oh my it was a hot day, but that never stops the kids from having fun. Today we headed over to Davenport Park in St. Augustine with some friends to enjoy the park, have a picnic lunch and ride the carousel a few times. The park was shaded which gave us some cool air but the heat still made its way through. After playing for two hours it took the whole car ride being on max a/c before I felt my body temperature back to normal. Is fall coming soon?! :)
